How much do you get for working as a hairdresser at a salon weekly and yearly?

it all depends on what salon you are working at....higher end salons you would make more per service thus more in tips making your weekly and yearly income higher...lower end chain salons you would make less money...although you usually don't have to pay rent on your station at the chain salons because you make an hourly wage rather than working off what your customers pay you like you would at a higher end (or privately owned place) where you pay a monthly or weekly station rental fee.How much do you get for working as a hairdresser at a salon weekly and yearly?
100 weekly and 5200 yearlyHow much do you get for working as a hairdresser at a salon weekly and yearly?
idk
it definetly depends. on the talent and the owner of the shop. like if your working on celebrities you will get more than just working on regular people
well i use to work at a salon u can really never say it depend how many customers you have who your regulars and is your shop known as a busy place also what kind of hair u do cut, style, braid i use to braid and out of 5 days at work a week about 1000 sometimes more or less it depends on how u want to work but don't over do it u can get tried so a year i say at lease 47,000 to 51,000 at least but if u want to see money u got to have customers that comes to u and only u so do a good job

Is there a difference between salon shampoos like redken and department store shampoos like pantean?

I have had this debate for a long time now whether salon shampoos were really better for your hair than department store ones like pantean shampoo..

My hair is longer than sholder length and i regularly get highlights put in and want to use the best shampoo out there, but at a cheap price.

Anyone help i need some advice?! thanks :)Is there a difference between salon shampoos like redken and department store shampoos like pantean?
First, Pantene is horrible. It doesn't ';damage'; your hair but it does leave a waxy buildup. That is why it makes it look shiny. Non-ammonia colors (like Shades EQ) wash right out within days because the hair is so coated.

Drugstore brands don't damage hair but they are cheaper for a reason. All shampoo has basically the same main ingredients. The difference is the concentration of the good ingredients. That's why professional products cost more. They are more concentrated so they will do the job better, you won't need to use as much, and because of this they last longer. If you really want to make your hair healthy, professional products will work better because they are formulated better. More active ingredients, less fillers. Is there a difference between salon shampoos like redken and department store shampoos like pantean?
Hmm.. best and cheap don't belong in the same sentence!!

Yes, there is a difference -- they are made by different companies. :-)

Redken used to be very good, but since L'Oreal bought them, they have changed drastically. It's still alright, better than most, but not as good as it once was. Any commercial product (on the drugstore shelf) has to be poorer quality because there is such an overhead on the product.

Salon products usually are better since they don't have as much advertising or costs in distribution. They are made for the professional, who has higher standards than do most people. People want pretty colours and nice smell!!

You would do well to find Nexxus or Focus21 products. They may be more expensive, but you normally use much less, so it goes a long way. They actually work, when most ';pretty'; products are only for marketing, and don't do anything good for your hair.
This is an EXCELLENT question. In my experience, hair operators will tell you that drug store hair care products are crap, that they dry out your hair etc etc, but, when I say, ';I've been using Pantene for years...does my hair feel/look damaged?'; and they always grudgingly say no. I suspect their profit margin on salon products is ENORMOUS.

Meanwhile, with that being said, I did have one lady admit that if I INSISTED on buying my hair care products from the drug store, that Dove brand is better than Pantene which is what I had been using. I figured she didn't have any reason to talk up one brand over another, and that she must have seen some research.

So, I switched to Dove. I use the formula for color treated hair. I must say, my hair does feel wonderful. I hated to leave Pantene, because I always felt that it did well for me, but Dove was better.

I dread the end of the haircut when they start asking you what kind of shampoo you use, hoping to lead you into the ';our stuff is better'; conversation, and here's how I end it: ';What kind of shampoo do you use?'; ';I'm okay on product right now....thanks.'; and that's that.
Uhhh Yes I have 2 different sets of redken shampoo and ocndtioners on my dresser as we speak!!! lol and yes theres a big differenece I just get rid of all my Pantene ;( well I finished it.. Redken is More high end and well, Performs WAYYYY Better But Pantene is great too but It's eithr Pay 13 bucks for both shampoo and condtioner or 4 bucks?

I use Redken, but not Im in Herbal Essencse ;) Im looking for a protein treatment thoough and I know one or both of them are going to be from Redken ;) redken is areally great line... and well worth the money

Answer one is right on it.

Another way is to find someone that is selling out and buy the place already set up. It can save you some money.

Where are you looking at? City?
Find a place...to rent or buy...decide if you need to remodel the space (you probably will) and how much it will cost. Price and buy the fixtures (nail desks, lights, drying bench, pedicure chairs, etc. Have everything installed. You will probably need plumbing for the pedicures. I'm assuming you have a manicurist license and will work alone at first so no worries about hiring and payroll. But you will have to keep good records for your own taxes. Make sure the zoning is ok. My manicurist bought a building and then the zoning was wrong and he had to work for year with city council etc to get the zoning changed. Paint, design the interior and start advertising your services. Many first time business owners forget about taxes. Make sure you have enough to pay taxes. If you don't pay taxes then you can't take all the business deductions etc.
laser hair removal?, i thought only doctors could do that.

Do Hair Salons Usually Except Walk-ins?

My mom said I have to die my hair professionally from now on.

I was wondering this because there are a couple of home-owned hair salons near where I live.

I was wondering if you think they'd except walk-ins?

Thanks you! :DDo Hair Salons Usually Except Walk-ins?
If they're home owned then most likely not; i'd get there number first and call. but if not them most likely. :]Do Hair Salons Usually Except Walk-ins?
Most of them will have signs on there door and most do.
Yeah. Usually the home owned lower end salons take walk in's.
call them and ask if you need to make appointments
Usually, and my best wishes on the dyeing
call them and ask. They will tell you how busy they are. I do think that they will, but it may be a wait.
well it'd help if you put where

    your were from.

    if they accept walk-ins they'll

usually say it on the window or somethin
Some places accept walk-ins upon availability. So that means if you walk in and they are too busy, then it's too bad for you. What time might be convenient for you to walk in, might be too busy for them. It's a hit and miss process.

It would save you time just to make a phone call and schedule an appointment.

I'm going tanning at a salon for the first time - any tips to keep safe, and tan fast?

I'm going to a tanning salon for the first time today. I think I'll be going about 2-3 times a week for the next 3 weeks. What should I do before, during, and after going tanning that will help me to keep my tan longer, tan faster, and be safer? Do you have any tips for first-time tanners? Should I wear sun screen? Thank you very much,I'm going tanning at a salon for the first time - any tips to keep safe, and tan fast?
Don't overdo it. In other words, start out doing 5 mionutes in the bed and work your way up to the full time or else you will burn and youwill not be able to tan until the burn goes away- a week or two. Tanning bed burn hurts worse than sun burn.

Also, buy some tanning bed lotion at your tanning salon. It will help to moisturize your skin, which will prolong your tan. It is expensive, but they usually sell single use packets for $5 as well. It will make all the difference.

Stand up beds work faster and help to not have tan lines. In lay down beds, sometimes you get white marks under your bottom or down the sides of your torso.

ALWYS wear your goggles. You can severly hurt your eyes if you do not.I'm going tanning at a salon for the first time - any tips to keep safe, and tan fast?
First off Dont. You'll just be asking for cancer. Try Jergen's Natural Glow. It looks so much more real.
There isn't a single answer for this question because everyone's body is different. If your skin is fair I'd recommend tanning often (every other day) and for a short amount of time (8 minutes or less in a 15 minute bed). If your skin is darker you can stay in longer, its really an experiment... you have to see what works for you; start low and work your way up. No matter what your skin type, you'll want to keep it moisturized, lotion before and lotion after (not necessarily tanning lotions). Hope this helps
start with the weakest bed - and dont stay in the entire time.

wait at least a week before going on to the next level.

their lotions help keep your skin smooth, but you dont absolutely need it (theyre pretty overpriced..)

and dont get addicted! (im an addict..)

price does not matter.what is the BEST shampoo? What is the absolute BEST professional salon shampoo for color treated hair?
there is no ABSOLUTE best shampoo. even for color treated hair. EVERYONE's hair is completely different and one shampoo that is the best for one person could damage your hair. don't buy anything other than shampoo from a salon. if you go to your local salon (not cost cutters or cheap ones like that) one of the stylists will take a look at your hair (if you know the dye you used that will help) and recommend the best shampoo for youWhat is the absolute BEST professional salon shampoo for color treated hair?

How can i find a nail salon that doesnt use the drill when doing gel nails?

will the thickness in my nails ever come back if i've only gotten gel nails once and they used the drill?

thanxHow can i find a nail salon that doesnt use the drill when doing gel nails?
There is no need to use a drill on your natural nails at all. It really only needs to be used on the product, and even then, only on some products. I use enVogue gels, and even though I do use a drill, I don't have to, because it's a soft-filing product.

Anyway, to answer your question, yes, your nails will return to their normal state, but it will take a complete growth cycle, which is anywhere from 3 - 6 months.

After visiting a Dominican salon and my curls a no longer as tight. Is it possible that they've used a chem?

Do Dominican Salons use chemicals for wash %26amp; sets? After visiting a Dominican salon and my curls a no longer as tight. Is it possible that they've used a chem?
No. It's all the damn heat they use! It's sounds like they gave your hair heat damage. Just check out youtube and you'll see video of a Domincan salon and all the heat they use to get your hair straight. You're not the first person this has happened to, though.

Give your hair some protein treatments and see if it'll revert back after a few months. Some people's hair do, but if yours don't then the damage is permanent. You can: live with it; grow out your hair and slowly cut off the damaged hair; or cut off the damaged hair all at once.

Either way, I probably would end all contact with Dominican salons, unless you want to end up with straight pieces of hair that won't revert.

What do you use at tanning salons?

in terms of tanning lotion/oil? can you use like hawaiian tropic indoor tanning oil or do you have to use what they have at the salon? and do you have to like clean it up if it's oily? thanks, sorry for all the questions, i've never tanned at a tanning salon and i want to use tanning oil...What do you use at tanning salons?
You don't have to use what they sell at the salon. Just make sure whatever you use is for indoor tanning, because indoor tanning takes a much different toll on your skin than outdoor tanning. The bulbs are practically an inch away from your self and you don't want to harm your skin. You don't have to clean the booth afterwords, they have employees who do that. They should be cleaning after every person who uses it for health reasons! Just make sure to also close your eyes or use goggles so you don't damage your sight. Start off only going in for a short length of time and then build up too, or else you might burn. What do you use at tanning salons?
Murphy was right. But just remember to bring a moisturizer with you to put on after you are done. You're skin will dry out very easily after tanning so you need to moisturize the minute you get out.
Use tanning lotions specifically made for tanning beds. I use Australian Gold tanning lotion. Just rub it in like regular lotion and by the time you're done in the bed, you should be dry. Oils will damage the tanning bed.
don't use tanning oil, it'll ruin the bed.

%26amp; no, you don't have to use what they have, just make sure whatever you use is for -indoor- tanning that''s all, lol.

tanning salons are very effective but after a while most people take on an orange look, especially if you start out very pale. the most important thing to remeber when tanning in salons is to go pretty slow at first, so like tan for 4 mins each day in a entry leval bed ($5-7 a session) if your super pale for like 4 days then move up to 8 mins for about 5 days then start going the full 12 or 15 mins. also avoid the 20 min beds because those will burn you very easily and take longer reach your desired level of tan/bronzed/sexified-ness!

also the more expensive beds ($20-30 a session) get you tan really fast and are a lot harder to burn in, but you'll still want to start slow.

OOOH! also a lot of places offer really good student discounts if your still in highschool, trust me i was one tan son of a ***** in high school. well goodluck!Tanning salons? good or bad?
if you have pale skin when you start off go like 3-4 days a week for 2 weeks at 7 minutes in the most expensive bed (it's the bed that will make you burn the least). Then move to 10 min every 4-5 days for 2 weeks. Than go for 15 min (or max mins) every 4-5 days after that. You'll have nice bronz color in about a month half.

$$ wise It depends where you go. Beach bum has pretty good monthly deals. but on a regualr basis it's about $25 each day.

If you have pale skin do not over do it at first. You will get way too burnt!

Girls on look really orange if you get sprayed or airbrushed.

Just use the bed to get a nice dark glow!

    = ) happy tanning
    Q. Are Tanning Salons Safe?

    A.

While there are going to be a lot of people who won't agree with me, I'm going to take a stand. I really don't believe they are safe. Here's why...

I don't believe that a thin layer of plexiglass is going to protect you from the ultraviolet rays that are directed at you. And often, the UVA rays that you are absorbing are more potent than those you would find out of doors.

If you are like me, you might be under the impression that salons only use UVA rays for tanning purposes which meant that you would not burn. But according to American Academy of Dermatology, this is not the case. Most bulbs used at salons emit UVA and small amounts of UVB rays. It is also believed that this is contributing to a variety of cancers.

According to Nicholas Lowe, author of Skin Secrets, using a tanning bed will not offer the limited amount of protection that a little sun will provide. Here is how he explains it. The melanin that is produced by a limited exposure of the sun will offer a little protection... although you had to damage your skin to get it. The UVA rays used with tanning beds does not work in the same way. Natural sun will cause the skin to thicken and that is where the protection comes into play. The UVA rays used in a salon has no effect on the thickening of the skin.

Neil Izenberg, MD also believes the amount of UVA rays that are emited are very dangerous and advises that teens stay away from the salons. Source: Kidshealth.org

And if all of the above hasn't been enough to scare you away, Sid Kirchheimer, a health and medical writer and editor for two decades, believes that by visiting a salon once a month could increase your chances of cancer by fifty five percent. Are you willing to take the chance? Source: Webmd.com
Tanning salons,.....uhn uhn....don't do it! Very unhealthy!!

The best way is the sun!!

You know people complain about how dangerous it is but we still see a whole lot of people staying in the sun out there. Just make sure you have on the proper moisturizers and sunscreen! I mean I understand that my skin is darker and therefore it allows me to soak the sun more but 1.) Everyone's skin NEEDS the sun, It has Vitamin D in it! 2.)Well, too much of anything is not good!! My best answer to you is to get it the good old fashoined natural way in moderation!!
    How old are you?

Sunbeds are not good for your skin. At best, they cause premature aging of the skin. Repeated exposure to the UV rays will also increase the risk of cancer.

My tips for pale-skinned girls? Wear a high factor sunscreen and embrace your paleness. It's not unattractive in the slightest.
tanning salons are only for people who are embarrassed by their race.

I say if you're black, asian, white, whatever, just embrace it.

Why would you want to look bi-racial?

    Just be white.
BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD

    oh yeah...

If you are under 18 they will ask for your parents consent. if your parents wont consent or you just want to save time and money go buy some jergens natural glow daily moisturizer.. it isnt just fake tan a in a bottle so you wont be able to tell it is fake...never orange or streaky it works gradually after days of use but after using it for a week you should have a nice natural looking tan.. its pretty cheap about 6 bucks a bottle. here is a link to it at walgreens its more expensive there but i wanted you to just be able to see what it is exactly

There are a lot of good color places in LA but it is a very big place. The best are usually very expensive and in the Hollywood and Brentwood area. The best job is when they just do really narrow highlights and not zebra stripes. Could you narrow it down to a specific area in Southern California and I can find a good salon for you.Do you know a hair salon that specializes in highlights in Los Angeles, California?
i would assume in los angeles there would be one every ten feet but as far as a good one i have no idea.

Can a stylist at a salon do temporary dying?

I've never dyed my hair before so I'm wondering if a stylist at a salon could do temporary hair dying, because I'm only dying it for a two day event, but I don't wanna wear a wig or anything, I want it to look natural. I'm wondering if there was a way they could dye my hair really light blonde temporarily, so that it would come out of my hair with some washing. Can a stylist at a salon do temporary dying?
Call around! My salon recently told me they can do some dyes in semi-permanent (28 washes) and permanent.

However, there is no way to lighten hair and reverse it. You can't just ';dye hair blonde'; and then it washes out. By lifting the hair color, you're taking it out of the hair follicles, and thus it no longer exists there. You would have to bleach your hair and then dye it back to normal. Can a stylist at a salon do temporary dying?
if you have brown hair, and you dye it blonde. it will STAY blonde

because blonde is a type of bleach (even if you don't bleach it) so no matter what it will stay in forever. unlike dark colors
Why don't you color your hair? It's temporary. You can buy it at target or something. You just wash it with your hair but it will last for 2 weeks or so.

How Will I Look Two Days After I Go To A Tanning Salon?

I plan on using a tanning bed for the first time on the 15th. I start my junior year of high school on the 17th. Will I look... odd or anything? I'm worried 'cause there's no other way I could go to the tanning salon any earlier. How Will I Look Two Days After I Go To A Tanning Salon?
    No, you will look fine.

Just practice safe tanning, use lotion %26amp; don't get burnt!

Have a nice day, hope I helped! =]How Will I Look Two Days After I Go To A Tanning Salon?
You probably won't notice a difference because you will need to start out with very little time (6 or 7 min MAX!). If you use a lotion with a bronzer, you may be orange. I would suggest using a coco butter lotion (like you can buy in any drugstore) and taking it slow in the beds. Burns do NOT turn into tan, so no point in rushing it:)
One time on the tanning bed will not make a difference to your skin colour.

You wont look odd, you wont have changed.

To get a difference in skin colour, i usaully notice a difference after 20-30 minutes of tanning beds.

Just moisturise, gradual tanning is they key and *dont* burn.
dont go tanning. worse thing i ever started doing. youll get addicted and its so bad for your skin. i dont go anymore...ill usually layout with tanning oil that has spf. ive also been trying some gradual sunless tanners...but i wouldnt even start. google all the harmful things tanning does and youll think twice
    you'll look orange %26amp; disgusting.

By ';cuts black hair'; I presume you mean African hair rather than just anybody with black hair, right? If so you need to say so or your question doesn't make sense - as ANY salon would cut a person's hair regardless of what colour it was.

However, if you mean you want a specialist African/black person's hair, then there's one in Manchester in Moss Lane (East I think) near the Whalley Pub in M16.
i think that the voodoo salon in liverpool city centre might specialise in that but i'm not entirely sure. I only know cos my best friend had the same dilemma and she always goes there.

  • Can salons get perms out of hair . and if they can how do they do it ?

Your just going to have to let it grow unfortunately. Depending on your hair, it might be able to withstand the damage of being chmically straightned, it might not fall out, or break off, but it will do unbelievable damage, so dont do itCan salons get perms out of hair . and if they can how do they do it ?
They cannot. Once you perm the hair, you are changing the natural coil pattern of the hair. The only way to get them out is to let it grow. and PLEASE don't try to get the ends chemically straightened, your hair will fall out because it cannot stand both of those solutions. Can salons get perms out of hair . and if they can how do they do it ?

Candidates for a license in cosmetology must have completed 1500 hours of cosmetology education in a licensed cosmetology school, pass both a written and practical examination administered by the state's testing administrator, and pass a background check.

You guys are both really pretty, you guys look young, like maybe around 14 or 15. I won't rate you guys because you guys are both equally pretty, and I won't guess your names because I will be wrong anyway so there is no point. I also won't say anything about the make up because I use to play around with it when I was young as well (not that I'm old or anything, but older than you two, yes), specially when I was bored. :D

  • What's the average cost to rent a chair in a HAIR SALON, per stylist?

My father and I decided to invest in a salon and make it a per-chair rental salon in Pennsylvania. We are experienced in other businesses; however, we are unsure of the average cost to charge each stylist. Each stylist is very talented and well-established, bringing their client lists with them. Also, can anyone suggest how payment should be for the manager and employees? For example, does an owner get 30% and the employee receives 70%? PLEASE HELP! ANY AND ALL INFORMATION WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!What's the average cost to rent a chair in a HAIR SALON, per stylist?
it depends on the market in your city.

in Houston, TX, rent varies from 400-1000/mo.

As an owner, you are the one with all the liability and most of the expenses. Can you make a profit on 30%? seems to me that might need to be reversed if you are paying commission.

Also, I am not sure what you refer to by employees and the split you are talking about. Any salon I worked in, stylist commission was never higher than 40% base, and you had to make a retail sales quota of about 15% of your service sales to make 50% commission. What's the average cost to rent a chair in a HAIR SALON, per stylist?
It will depend on if you're hiring your stylist as independent contractors or not. If they are then you will have to have each one fill out a 1099 form. This is from the IRS. It states that they are responsible for keeping track of and paying all of their own taxes. Independent Contractors are also responsible for all of their own insurances, as they are basically subcontractors. These people will be renting space from you. You will also be responsible for all of the overhead ( Mortgage, Utilities, Sales Taxes and so on) A very good stylist with proof of a good clientele will receive in the neighborhood of 35% Commission. You really need to educate yourself on what the laws are in your own state and community as well. Good Luck

You would need to go to school for it. In 49 of the 50 states, a license is required to do nails. Experience? It depends on the salon. Most want at least some experience, others want 3-5 years or more of experience. Doing nails is a skill that needs to be learned, then mastered. You won't have many customers for the first year or two. It takes a while to get a steady flow of regular customers. Also, be prepared to work nights, weekends, and on some holidays too - especially when first starting out. A successful nail tech sets his/her schedule to fit the needs of their customers, not the other way around.

In the salon my family owned each bed was in its own room, and each room had a lock on the door and a place to put your clothes and belongings.

From what I've seen of other other salons, they use a similar set up. Though, I've only been to a few others. How private are tanning salon rooms?
Don't know, but please be VERY careful using these.......

the UV rays are even higher than from natural sunlight, and are a very good way to get skin cancers.........
You are in a room by yourself, totally private

If your going to start tannig in a bed, the only thing i do suggest is, even though they do or are suposed to clean the beds after each person, do it yourself before you get in...

But there isnt anyone in the room with you hun, and dont go overboard, if this is your first time in a bed , go slow or your gonna burn go for five minutes the first few times, use a tanning cream, and increase your time a little at a time, you get a tan much faster in a bed then in the sun....

You really have nothing to worry about. :) Remember that they do this a hundred times a week and are used to it. You are no different to anyone else walking in there to get their hair done. If you know what hair cut you want them to do then great if not have a look through some magazines or find some pictures and take them with you. Try to keep it simple for your first visit.

You will go into the salon and sit down in the chair. You will talk to your stylist about what kind of cut you want and you can show her the pictures and talk about them or just ask for a trim. If you just want a trim she may not need to wash your hair but if you want something more than that she will ask one of the other girls working there to wash your hair.

Most places have basins you lay back against and your head leans back into a bowl with a shower head on a hose. I always have to move about to find a comfy position but once you feel comfy it is fine. The girl will wash your hair and then condition your hair. She will towel dry it slightly while you are still sat back. She may also comb out any tangles. I have long hair and always ask for this combing or brushing out of tangles to be done while I am sat back at the chair in front of the mirror as it is easier. You just tell her what you want.

Next your stylist will come back and begin to cut your hair for you. Usually she will cut it into the style a little long so that she can cut a little more off if she needs to later on, if that is what you want. Then she will dry your hair and ask you if it is all ok. If it is not ok just let her know. If you are not happy in any way it is your right as her client to ask her to fix it or whatever.

Then you pay and off you go with your fabulous hair!

If the stylist suggests any extras like highlights or dying your hair this is fine but just make sure you know how much it will all cost.

Hope this helped, Viki :)What happens when I get a haircut at a hair salon?
Well they are going to first ask you what you style you want your hair to be cut in. Then they will shampoo you, condition, then take you back over to the chair. Where they shampoo you, is usually in the back of the salon, so hardly anyone will see you. They will cut your hair %26amp; they will blow-dry it. Style it %26amp; then your outta there. No biggy. I'm 17 %26amp; i've been there hundreds of times.
ive been to many salons and they dont need to shampoo it! they just get a spray bottle with water in it and sqirt it on your hair so they get the hair staright and then that cut it.and just in case take a shower before going to the salon.

What's the BEST SALON quality shampoo for volume?

My hair is usually volume, but now it's growing out and getting a bit thinner and flatter. I need a very good quality shampoo that can give me more volume and body to my flat hair. But something that won't dry out my hair of cause frizziness. I especially need volume on top. So what's the best salon quality volumizing shampoo you have ever used?

i really recommend tigi catwalk 'sexed up' thickening shampoo and conditiner. its the best ive ever used and is quite cheap and you can buy it from lots of salons or online for about $10.99 / 拢10 a bottle but its totally worth the pricetag because it really added thickness and volume to my hair and the conditioner doesnt weigh down your hair. heres a picture so you know what it looks like

Should I Get My Hair Thinned And Razored At A Salon?

I loved spiking my hair before. It's just becoming too hard to spike. I can't really life my hair into cool spikes. I think my hair is just too thick or something. So I was wondering whether or not thinning it could make it easier?

Has anyone else had this done to them? And are you happy with the results?Should I Get My Hair Thinned And Razored At A Salon?
uhm, i suggest getting it razored, i think it looks better because of the layers.

Can someone with psoriasis, eczema, or dandruff on their scalp pass it on to someone at a hair salon?

How do hair salons keep their equipment (hair brushes, etc.) clean? Can someone with psoriasis, eczema, or dandruff on their scalp pass it on to someone at a hair salon?
Nope. You can't pass it along. It's not an infectious disease, just a skin condition... it'd be like passing on acne. It can't happen.

They put their equipment in a cleansing solution when they are done with it. Can someone with psoriasis, eczema, or dandruff on their scalp pass it on to someone at a hair salon?
some health problems can be passed through the use of dirty equipment

there are government standards %26amp; guidelines that the salon should follow though im not sure how often salons are inspected

ive added a link to an Aussie website the rules world wide are much the same although each place has their own laws. some places are stricter than others you will have to ask a local barber or hair dresser about your concerns.
these aren't contagious. hair salons clean things differently. some use bleach, others use soap and water, some use alcohol based products
yes, sanitize in some special liquid for clean hair combs and brushes
those are not contagious so no you cant pass them on.

What do I tell my salon to get hair like this?

    http://www.topnews.in/files/images/Krist鈥?/a>

I really like kristen stewarts hair style in this pic and want to get a cut similar to this. What do I tell my sylist I want done in order to get something like this. My hair is longer than this right now.

please do not tell me to bring a pic to them, my printer is not owrking. What do I tell my salon to get hair like this?
Just go to like a friends house and do it. Might as well because what if your hair dresser does something wrong. What do I tell my salon to get hair like this?
This style is more of a style than a cut. Is your hair straight? If not, you can always ask your stylist to straighten your hair. Mine does sometimes. They will even do it if it is straight, to get that sleek look. In the picture, it looks like she has a middle part but its very subtle. What I mean by this is that its not really a part its just kept back probably with hairspray or constant ';fingers through the hair.'; :) But somethings you can tell you stylist is that it is kind of layered, and very sleek.Keep in mind that if you want your stylist to stlye your hair this way, you might have to stlye it that way yourself until your hair gets used to this. (You might always need to straighten, and a little hairspray at the top.) I hope I helped, let me know how it goes. :) Good Luck!
well, look at magazines for pictures of kristen with hair that looks like that. cut it out and bring it with you. also, some salons have computers so u can show the ladies the picture. some libraries have printers and u can print from there
download the pic on a disk and then go get it done at a photo shop or print it somewhere and bring it ! That is the best solution!
Im not sure but her hair looks straightened and layerd then she prolly just ran her fingers thru the line where her roots are to get that messy kind of look
borrow a friend's printer, showing the picture is the easiest way
i knoww her hair looks super cute !!!! just tell her that you want side bags like the way she has it and layers thats really all to it but yeahh i love the color too very nice =)

Can you go to a salon and just get your hair curled with a curling iron?

I have a curling iron at home but my hair is pretty long and i have a lot of hair.. so it takes me a long time. I was thinking about actually going to a salon this time to get it done for a party. I've never really gone to a real salon just places like great clips and hair cuttery. How much does this typically cost too?Can you go to a salon and just get your hair curled with a curling iron?
yes u can goCan you go to a salon and just get your hair curled with a curling iron?
they'll charge based on the length of your hair, the longer your hair the more expensive.
Yes, salons offer what is called ';style only'; for people who just want their hair styled for a special occasion, but not necessarily cut. The price depends on the salon, and the geographic location.

    Call a few hair salons in your area and say, ';I am calling to inquire if your hair stylists will style my hair for a special occasion, and how much the salon charges for 'style only'.';

Unless you know someone who can recommend a stylist personally, that is the best way to find out without driving around and wasting gas money.
yeah, you can but they charge you a lot for it because it takes so long to do. If it takes as long as a haircut, they charge you the haircut price or more sometimes.
If you go to a place like hair cuttery or great clips, you just ask them for a style. They will charge around 25 dollars and maybe a little more if your hair is ridiculously long, and if you get her to shampoo your hair before it'll be about 2 dollars more ontop of the price. It's best not to wash your hair a day before you get it styled because the oils in your hair will hold the curls for a lot longer. Good luck!!!
    yup you can..

    the price is very different

it depends on the salon youre going to...

    it shouldnt be too expensive
most places charge by the length of your hair and time it takes to do it. i would recommend that you have clean, dry hair when you go to the salon. this will help you with the price it shouldn't be more than $25-30. unless you want something crazy that takes hours to do. and theres nothing wrong with great clips and those types of places. they go to the same school as everyone else.. if your only getting your hair curled.. chances are those places will be alot cheaper, if thats what you are going for.
    yes you can. :D

i actually always go to a salon before a party or girls night out to set my hair up.

it doesn't cost much since it's not like you are goin to have a perm or haircut.

it depends on how long your hair is and how popular your stylist is.

if your hair is very long and you pick the most popular stylist in the salon, then it would cost more than $50.

my hair is long ( waist length) and i pick a ok stylist.

they usually charge me for $20 - $45
Yes, you could definitely go to a salon, and if you do it's almost always guaranteed to look fabulous.

The price depends on what salon you go to, and which stylist does it. In some salons, the prices change with each stylist because of their experience, time in the salon, etc.

It shouldn't cost too much if youre ONLY getting it curled- that would just be thermal styling. now, if it was an updo, that would be different. Look up some salons and call around.

What do you tell the salon girl to even out your bob?

In the summer I got a bob and the front is longer then the back now. I want my hair all one length so what do i tell her? Also my hair is to my shoulders and i am getting side-swept bangs too help!!!!!!!!!!What do you tell the salon girl to even out your bob?
    just say that you want your hair ';evened out'; or ';one-length';. she will know what it means because well she is a hairstylists. and just add ';i would like a side-swept bang with the evened out bob.';

=] easy and simple. What do you tell the salon girl to even out your bob?
Just tell her you want your bob one length, then you want side bangs...Pretty sure the hairstylist will know what 'one length' or 'even out' will mean.

What do we know about salon ';installed'; eyelashes?

I have just moved to Southern Florida, and the salons here do eyelashes! Either single, or entire lash sets. Some are more permanent than others. I want to get these, but am not familiar with how they work. Anybody??What do we know about salon ';installed'; eyelashes?
i think you mean eyelash extensions.. i do them.. and people love them.. i have yet to hear salon putting the entire lash set on you.. they may do that but they'll fall off in a day. or so.. but the eyelash extensions are place one at a time and can last up to a month.. there expensive.. but beautiful.. once you get them they give you more volume and length and you dont have to wear mascara..and dont worry about it irritating your eyes, because if you get a skilled person the false eyelash dont even touch your eyes.. its just glued onto your eyelashes.. if your getting the single eyelash extension make sure you dont pay more than $150, because its not worth it, shop around.. and ask the salon representatives, how they work etc.. if you have any questions email me.. good luck! What do we know about salon ';installed'; eyelashes?
I hate it...my eyes are so sensitive that I can't even wear eye makeup, so the goo they use to apply them really bothered me.

So basically, they use this black...gooey looking stuff (adhesive), and stick it on the end of the eyelash. Then, they glue the eyelashes (the woman at my salon does them individually) in beween your natural eyelashes. It's cute...and i think they last like 2 weeks (maybe more, help me out here people).

If your eyes aren't sensitive...they're beautiful....and better than doing them on your own.

Its not required to tip you, but be thankful for the tips you do get. I worked at a bed and breakfast last year and worked really hard, yet some people just don't tip. Some do... very nicely I might add, up to $100.00 a weekend! For one couple! :) I miss that job.

But it is Never mandatory to tip anyone, just a nice gesture.Do you tip the person who washes your hair in the salon?
I always go to the barber with my hair already washed.

And I always tip the barber directly; I know about pooling, and I think it sucks.

There are no separate staff to wash people's hair where I go, but if there were and I ever availed myself of their services I'd tip him/her directly too.

Yes, especially if the hair-washer has given me a lovely head massage too.
yes you should tip because people dont have to wash your hair they can have someone else to wash your hair
No because I am perfectly capable of washing my own hair.

Should i always take a picture of what my hairstyle should look like when I go to a beauty salon?

?Should i always take a picture of what my hairstyle should look like when I go to a beauty salon?
if you want something in particular, yes, you should take a picture, other wise, you run the risk of not getting anything close to what you want. make sure you go to a stylist you trust, too.Should i always take a picture of what my hairstyle should look like when I go to a beauty salon?
Yes. That way they can't screw up and say that was what they thought you meant when you explained what you want.
Unless its just a trim, I'd say absolutely yes. That way you'll get the syle you want and the hairdresser will have more to work with. Plus, she/he can alter things for your particular face shape, hair texture, and color.
Some people do, and some people don't. If you bring a picture, the stylist will beable to see what you want. But, if you don't, then you'll end up explaining.

Think of the picture as a visual aide. The choice is yours.
It is a great idea too. But, there isn't a rule saying that you have to. It is good though so that the stylist knows exactly what you want.

Has anyone here had their hair chemically straightened at the hair salon?

i am thinking about having it done, and was wondering if it does loads of damage to your hair.

i straighten my hair everyday, so would the damage be about the same?

Also, hoe long does it last...will i have to have it redone very often?Has anyone here had their hair chemically straightened at the hair salon?
bout 6 months yea lots of damage

could fall outHas anyone here had their hair chemically straightened at the hair salon?
I'd had it done with ordinary straighteners for years, and then tried the Japanese straightening method. It got my hair STICK straight - it wouldn't even hold a curl with a curling iron! The problem was, that it dried it out horribly, and all the ends were broken. Everyone used to compliment me on my hair, and it took 2 years for that straightening to grow out - before I got any more compliments! I'd rather have curly hair, in good condition, than straight straw........
I had a technique called ';Uko';. It took 2 attempts, the 1st I washed it after 4 days and it went all kinky. The 2nd it isn't as bad, but is still a little kinky.

Although I will say something positive for it though. Before I had it done my hair was very dry, fine and frizzy. Now it looks great! Soft, manageable and no frizz. It is straighter than normal, and they do state at the salon that it wont be dead straight. I think it is alot of money for what the end result is. But if you have unruly hair, then I would recommend it. Also, take a book! It takes 4 hours!
i have afro hair and i had mine done and love it.

you hve to go about every 3-4 months to get the roots done.

After washing my hair i blow dry it and put the straightners through my fringe.

you do have to make sure you contition your hair well tho because otherwise it can det dry and end up with split ends.
mine was great lasted 4 months

The Sedu is a Japanese straightener and it is probably the best, followed closely by the Solia and GHD. GHD is probably the cheapest, it's only like $110.What Is an amazing hair straightener that works really really good like a the ones they use at the salon?
Remington straightener for $20 bucks, I have one...its amazing and it was featured on Oprah :)
I really like Butter flavored Crisco myself, but in this time of ';health'; mindedness you may want to use a Bertolli's Olive Oil in your dew.

Is there a rinse or something I can do myself until I can get to the salon?

My hair is now dark, and my dark blonde roots are coming in. It almost makes me look like my hair is thinning. It hasn't even been 4 weeks since my last dye job. Is there something I can wash my hair with, or a type of rinse I can use until I can get back to the salon? Is there a rinse or something I can do myself until I can get to the salon?
You could try a Roux Fanciful rinse...found at Sally's...it only lasts from shampoo to shampoo. This makes sure you're not effecting the color your stylist is using. You could also ask your stylist if she does partial root touchups for a discounted price. You could just color what everyone sees in the front every other time you get color. Unless your hair is short. Is there a rinse or something I can do myself until I can get to the salon?
You might want to try a color glaze.
I've used natural instincts by clairol for that same purpose. I use toasted almond, which makes my brown hair darker and brings out awesome red highlights. I love it because it is good for my hair, and easy to use. I would suggest trying a blonde hair dye from them (it is demi-pernament, meaning it lasts through 28 washes) the color swatches are very true to the actual color result. Be sure to do a strand test though! Another plus is the dye smells really good, and I adore the smell and feel of the conditioner included, which lasts for six weeks! This should last you until you get to the hairdressers to have your roots touched up!

What is a neat technique to do your nails at home and making them look like a salon finish?

every time i paint my nails, (im a righty) my left hand looks somewhat gorgeous but my right looks somewhat...HORRIBLE!! i would like to know how i can paint my nails so that they are even and look alike and not horrible. and also if anyone knows...what to do with ugly cuticles. and what color nail polish looks best with tanned/dark skin??What is a neat technique to do your nails at home and making them look like a salon finish?
    -) Go to a salon

    -) Stop painting them

-) Use precut templates to keep paint off the unwanted areas

-) Train a partner or friend. Take turns doing each other's nails

-) Get a home kit or glue on nails

-) Practice painting with your left, on a large barbie doll.

Practice makes perfect! Ok, well, maybe not, but you sure can get close! What is a neat technique to do your nails at home and making them look like a salon finish?
i'm a tanned brown color and a dark red looks pretty good on my nails...also, just a clear coat looks natural yet healthy

Black women: what can I do w/my natural hair until I can get to a salon to have it pressed later this week?

I just removed my braids and combed out my hair. It's huge! My hair is EXTREMELY thick and spongy. How can I wear it for work? Just wash it, put some Elasta QP in it and slick it back? I can't press it myself.Black women: what can I do w/my natural hair until I can get to a salon to have it pressed later this week?
Tasteful braids or twists, like the 2 french braids, blow dry it, Braid it while it's wet can give you some nice spirals. If you slick it back make sure the night before you place a doo rag or bandana on your head to hold the hair down to keep it slick for tomorrow.Black women: what can I do w/my natural hair until I can get to a salon to have it pressed later this week?
I would roller wrap it. Shampoo and condition your hair. Wet it with setting lotion and set it on largest magnetic rollers your hair will hold. Set under a dryer until your hair is dry. After your hair has dried, unroll your hair and with a paddle brush, wrap your hair around your head and sit under the dryer for another 15 to 20 minutes.

Your hair will be straighten with body.
Just pull it back and tie it and then put a clip with a fall on the end to cover the gnarly end.
wash it and then flat twist to your head(small like cornrows but with two strands instead of three). Depending on the length you can make a pretty bun in the back or set the ends on rollers. you can also do that same style at night then in the morning before work undo the twists(you'll have spirals instead of the crinkly look you get from braids) gently seperate and fluff to fill in the parts. before i loc'd i did this all the time very popular people loved it and it's office-acceptable.
slicking it back sounds good, or you can get you a head band and where it like that, that's my favorite
last girl was rite roller wrap it n ill be cute

if not jus slick it back and put it into a bun

or u can put on a headband and go natural

The single lights on my 92 chry. New Yorker Salon don't work-It blinks once then shuts off. How can i fix it?

My dad had put in a brand new fuse and it still doesn't work. The single lights on my 92 chry. New Yorker Salon don't work-It blinks once then shuts off. How can i fix it?
It could very well be the flasher needs to be replaced, you'll find it next to or close by the fuse panel on a similar looking panel that contains numerous devices like horn relays, emergency flasher, lights on or door chimes/buzzer.

It is round, some are metal, some plastic, about 1 1/2 inches in diameter and an inch maybe inch and a half high, a simple push/pull installation/removal.

Had the same situation symptoms years ago, a new flasher took care of the problem.
